WELCOME TO THE HAMMOND ARBORETUM

The Arboretum was created by Francis Hammond, the Head Teacher at the County Grammar School (now the Robert Smyth Academy) in Market Harborough, in 1913.

He continued to expand the site and add new plants until just before his death in 1937. Today the Arboretum houses over 300 trees and shrubs in the 2.4 acre site.

This webpage is under development. We're going to add all sorts of materials - videos, stories, artwork, and more.

Curated by the Fellowship with Nature project team from Robert Smyth Academy.

The Fellowship with Nature project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.  With thanks to National Lottery players.
